WordPress/ Jetpack Nightmare

WordPress/ Jetpack Nightmare

*sigh* This week has been a nightmare for my blog. As some of you might know, my blog is self-hosted. This means I used a third-party to host my blog in order to have complete creative control and freedom of my blog and how it is run. My old host package was coming to an end and I wanted to switch and so I got it migrated to a new hosting provider. This is where it all went downhill…

My new hosting provider offered free SSL certificates with all domains registered with them as part of your hosting package so I decided to make my domain extra secure with one. This caused huge problems with Jetpack and WordPress.com

After spending a week trying to get my blog to connect to Jetpack at all with the very kind help of the excellent people at Krystal hosting I eventually got back up and running with Jetpack to ensure my WordPress.org self-hosted blog was connected to WordPress.com so it was succesfully featured on my followers WordPress Readers and they could interact by liking and commenting from there if they wanted. This was VITAL for the growth of my blog. Without it my blog would get next to no interaction at all!

The problem now though was that two different versions of my blog were showing up on Jetpack and so I deleted one in the hope that it would delete the false one and I could recover the one I had before. I was so very wrong.

Jetpack refused to even try to help and just stopped relying when I emailed about my issue. They couldnt comprehend what was going on so chose to just ignore me. WordPress also struggled to grasp the problem I was describing and skirted around the issue at hand to try and pass it off as something else not remotely related to what I enquired about.

At this point, I have given up trying to fix this issue and have resorted to creating a new WordPress.com account to connect to my blog to allow followers to interact.

If anyone who was following previously could please please please hit that follow button again I would greatly appreciate it! I have lost all my progress and so this is my attempt to try and scrape some of it back after this catastrophe!

It also means I have to go back and refollow everyone I was following before so feel free to leave links in the comments so I can go back and do that!
